I played the original Advance Wars, and Advance Wars 2 Black Hole Rising is still one of my favorite GBA games to this day with hundreds of hours well spent. The remake is faithful to the originals. The gameplay is still as good as I remember. The soundtrack was remixed, so the songs are slightly different from the originals, but I have no complaints in that regard.What I will happily complain about are the graphics. The GBA games were 2d and had really good sprites and animations that hold up to this day. I can’t help but feel that the more modern 3d graphics here are a step back in that regard. Though at the end of the day most people play strategy games for the gameplay and not so much the graphics, and the graphics will likely not be as big of a problem if you’ve never played the originals.For anyone who hasn’t played the GBA games:Advance Wars is a child friendly turn based strategy game. In terms of gameplay it plays very similar to Wargroove and the Fire Emblem games. It has a very good single player campaign(s) with optional multiplayer. No blood, no guts, no swearing, no adult themes. Honestly, it should hold a Everyone Rating not Everyone 10 and Up Rating. I would strongly recommend Advance Wars as a introduction to turn based strategy games, especially if you’re looking buying a game you can play with your kids.
Although I didn’t play the original Advance Wars games until several years after their initial release, I had managed to play through all four of them. When word surfaced that they would be reviving the series again I was ecstatic because they were easily my favorite games on the Game Boy Advanced. This new title holds true to the original games. Aside from the graphics enhancements and a few minor adjustments to combine the two games, they are as difficult as the original titles, but also offer a better online front for multiplayer. I’ve put twenty hours into this remake so far and have nothing but praise for the game. It is addictive in a healthy way; after completing a mission, it is hard to not want to continue for one more, and then one more… I recommend this game to everyone of all ages that enjoy strategy based games. It is like chess, only with dozens of pieces that all move every single turn.

2021年7月にアマゾンへ予約購入して、発売延期を我慢してやっと今日到着しました。北米版ですが、アマゾンJPから購入し、市川倉庫から出荷され綺麗な状態でした。チュートリアルを３つ終え、本編カジュアルモードで数時間遊んだ感想です。良かった点・オリジナルをゲームボーイアドバンスや、wiiUバーチャルコンソルで遊んでいるため懐かしさ＋アレンジBGMで新しさも感じました。気がついたら2時間あっという間でした。・日本語は現在ありませんが、英語でも行動アイコンがわかりやすいため、ストレスなしです。子どものころ遊んだアルファベットしかないファミコンに比べたらずいぶん親切です。・戦闘アニメーションが細かくて見てて飽きないです。山から平地へ攻撃するアニメは鉄砲の角度が上から下へ。川で戦闘すれば水しぶきが。という感じです。歩兵の動きが可愛くて、どこかで見覚えがあるなと思い記憶を辿ったら突撃!!ファミコンウォーズの歩兵モーションに近い気がします。・敵CPUはオリジナルより自然な感じで、程よく痛いところをついてくるようになりました＞＜・スピーカーにつなげたら砲弾や鉄砲、戦車の移動音など、重低音がすごくて没入感がありました。・パッケージがリバーシブルで裏面もかっこよかったです。コレクションにはとてもうれしい。・箱庭っぽく、木箱や段ボール箱の中で遊んでいる演出がこっていて好きです。気になった点・テレビモードでも、戦闘アニメーションでややフレームがかくつく気がします。稀にかくっっとなる程度ですが、個人的にもやっとするので直るなら直してほしいです。・ミッション勝利時に読み込みなのか、ボタンを押しても2－3秒反応がなくなります。最初フリーズと思ったくらい無反応だったので、ロードがわかるようにしてほしい。・オープニングのアニメーションは、黄色いﾔﾂがいれば、ポケモンが始まる雰囲気でした。・ステージを選ぶときのフィールド音楽をどこかで聞いたことがありなかなか思い出せないです。原作というよりファミコンウォーズだった気もします。。。不思議な点・なんで日本版を出せないのか、遊んでみても原因が思いつかないです。流通、セールス的に厳しいのであればDL版専用や、受注生産いろいろあると思います。歩兵なんて兵隊というよりヘルメットおじさんにしかみえないかわいさなのに…まだまだ１の序盤です。オンライン要素もタグは作成しましたがまだ遊んでないので、この連休に遊びたいと思います。
